Travel Feature: Paris, France

As some of you know we are on holiday at the moment. Because of time constraints and not having full internet access all the time I will be sharing some travel features here along with the regular food posts. Let’s begin our travel feature with our trip to Paris.

June 19, 2013 marks our 10th Wedding Anniversary. Since this year also happens to be Mark’s parents’ 50th Wedding Anniversary we had to go to England and celebrate with them. My husband decided that we should cross over to the continent and go to France to celebrate our 10th Anniversary. I thought it’s a fabulous idea so I fully agreed, naturally. Here are some of the photos we took during our trip.

It was nearly 9 pm when we arrived in Paris last Monday (June 17) but there was still enough daylight to soak in the atmosphere and enjoy the view from our hotel.

We strolled around the neighborhood which was near a canal and had an espresso and cheesecake although it was already late. Thankfully, since we were still jetlagged and on American time we managed to sleep really well.

The next day, we set off to look for a place where we can get some breakfast. Fortunately, there is a fabulous Patisserie just beside our hotel so our breakfast was practically solved. I chose a piece of Pain Sportif (like a raisin bread) for breakfast. We then went to a cafe and ordered some Espresso with cream and then we were on our way to explore Paris.

You are truly spoiled for choice…

Below was my usual breakfast for the next two days.

Here’s a sampling of what was being offered on the nearby Patisserie.

With all these lovely treats, I wonder how the Parisians keep fit? Perhaps they do a lot of walking.

Talking about walking, after that huge breakfast, it’s time for some exercise. Paris is best seen on foot so we walked a lot of times. We probably walked for about 5 miles a day which I really enjoyed ’cause walking is my favorite thing to do. Thankfully, the weather was glorious as you can see. I even got some tan.

This photo was taken at the Botanical Garden.

When it gets too hot this is how the Parisians relax.

Of course you can never miss the amazing cafés in Paris, the perfect place to see and be seen.

We visited some of the original cafés in Paris which the likes of Hemingway, F. S. Fitzgerald and Picasso used to hang-out.

What is a trip to Paris without sight-seeing? We visited the major sights.

First was the Cathedral of Notre Dame. Even saw a wedding pictorial there, several actually. It was fascinating to see all these lovely brides.

From there we went to the Arc de Triomphe and strolled along the Avenue des Champs-Élysées.

Went to the Trocadero to see the world’s most photographed landmark – the Eiffel Tower.

This is all for now. I will share more photos for the next post featuring the Louvre Museum and our 10th Wedding Anniversary celebration. Thanks for your attention.

We walked about 5 miles a day while there so we won't gain much, Liz! The food there is worth all the calories though. Thanks for stopping by. 🙂
