Blueberry Green Smoothie

A combination of berries and leafy greens make this Blueberry Green Smoothie a power-packed and healthy smoothie! So delicious, you won’t even think there are vegetables in it!

I love Green Smoothies! I have tried it only recently (just a few months ago) and now that I have been drinking it regularly, almost on a daily basis for my breakfast…I can never seem to get enough of it. When people ask me what the taste is like, I always say, it’s really just like a regular smoothie – nope, there’s no bitter taste of Kale or Spinach but just a sweet-tangy flavor of the fruits and berries with a hint of nuttiness from the Flax seeds and the Peanut Butter. Except for the greenish tint that you will see on the smoothie, you won’t think at all that it’s loaded with green leafy vegetables!

I just love the convenience of making it in the morning, takes barely 3-5 minutes to make it but the effect of drinking this healthy drink can be felt throughout the day. You just feel like you started the day right and then you’re ready to conquer the world! For me, being able to eat the fruits and veggies in their raw state with all the nutrients still in there – is the bonus! The flavor, while not extra sweet, is just perfect; true sugar in fruit form, just the way God made it.

If you don’t have blueberries, use the other delicious berries in this smoothie but don’t forget to add your favorite greens, too! Have this today!

Ingredients

1 Tablespoon Ground Flax Seed
1 Cup Blueberries, fresh or frozen
1 large Ripe Banana
1/2 Cup (up to 1 cup) Spinach or Kale*
1 heaping Tablespoon Peanut Butter (I like the crunchy one)
1 cup water or crushed ice (if you want a cooler smoothie)

*When using Kale, you can opt to remove the thick membranes in the middle so it’s easier to process and your smoothie won’t have a stringy texture or feel to it.

Procedure

Place all the ingredients in a blender. Process until smooth. Serve and drink immediately. Enjoy! Have this for breakfast or as an afternoon drink or snack! 🙂

That was exactly my sentiment before I tried them…To be honest, it is truly good and not yucky as you may imagine – you hardly taste the greens and it's just like any ordinary smoothie. Hope you can try it, Bintu!

I'm wondering how the peanut butter makes the taste different.. Hmmm… Interesting!
