Sweet, fruity with a hint of lemony tang and perfectly spiced with cinnamon and nutmeg this Easy Slow Cooker Apple Crisp is simply the best! So easy to make, simply mix and dump and let the slow cooker do the work for you.
1/2cupAlmond meal, regular or gluten-free flour(your choice)
1/2cup sliced or slivered Almonds,(optional)
1/2cupbrown Sugar
1/2cup(1 stick) butter, cubed
5Granny Smith or other tart apples, peeled, cored and sliced or diced
1/3cupHoney
2tbspsfreshly squeezed Lemon juice (or juice of one small lemon)
zest of one lemon
2tspground Cinnamon
1/4tspground Nutmeg
Instructions
In a bowl, mix together the oats, flour of choice, sliced almonds (or other nuts, if using), brown sugar and the cubed butter. Set aside.
Place the apple slices in the slow cooker. Add the the honey, lemon juice and zest, cinnamon and nutmeg. Mix everything to combine.
Sprinkle the oat mixture all over the apple slices.
Cover and cook on high for 2-3 hours or until the apples are tender (but not mushy) and the top has nicely browned. Serve warm, plain, or with ice cream or whipped cream.
Notes
TIPS & TRICKSYou can add 1/2 a teaspoon of ground cinnamon (taken from the 2 teaspoon ground cinnamon measurement) and add it to the flour and oatmeal mixture.
