With just 4 ingredients and a slow cooker, you can have a juicy and flavorful ham that will impress your guests. The brown sugar adds sweetness while the lemon and lime soda and the pineapple provide some tangy and refreshing flavors. Plus, cooking the ham in a crockpot ensures that it stays moist. Such a simple and easy recipe, too.
Place the ham flat side down in a 6-quart slow cooker. If your ham doesn't fit simply trim on top.
Pour the sprite (or lemon and lime soda of choice) and juice from the canned pineapple.
Scatter half of the brown sugar all over the ham making sure to coat it evenly.
Place the pineapple slices on top of the ham, securing them with toothpicks if necessary. I use about half of the slices in the can and the rest for garnish but you can add all to the ham if you like.
Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 5-6 hours until the ham is heated through and tender. If using spiral ham and depending on the size, about 3-4 hours should be good as it reheats quicker than uncut ham. Baste the ham halfway through. During the last 30 minutes of cooking sprinkle the remaining sugar. The ham is fully heated when the internal temperature reaches about 145 F. Transfer the ham to a platter and loosely tent it with foil then allow to rest for 10-15 minutes before slicing.
Notes
TIPS & TRICKSyou can use the liquid in the slow cooker to make a flavorful gravy or sauce to serve with the ham. Just strain the liquid into a saucepan, and simmer it over medium heat until it reduces and thickens slightly. You can also add a few herbs, spices, or other seasonings to customize the flavor of the sauce. The ham is good on its own but if you want to add extra glaze to the ham, please find the recipe here.
