2 Tablespoons olive oil plus 1 Tablespoon Butter 6 cloves garlic. crushed 2.2 pounds chuck steak, cut into thin strips (or bite-size cubes) 3 Tablespoons flour seasoned with salt, I use about 1 1/2 teaspoons and pepper, or adjust to taste 3 celery sticks, chopped diagonally 1 cup red wine (use something you would drink for good flavor) 2 bell peppers, red and green, cut into strips 8 oz button mushrooms, washed and sliced
Preheat oven to 325F.
Coat the steak with flour seasoned with salt and pepper.
Heat the oil in a large frying pan. Melt the butter in it. Sauté the garlic in the pan briefly, just until aromatic, about a minute or less.
Quickly brown the beef strips in butter.
Transfer the browned beef tips and garlic to the casserole. Scatter the celery on top.
Pour in the wine.
Cover the casserole dish with foil (double the foil) and transfer it to the oven. Bake for about 2 hours or until the beef is tender.
Uncover then add the mushrooms and bell peppers. Continue to cook for another 15-30 minutes until the mushrooms and bell peppers are done.
Serve with rice or mashed potatoes! Beef heaven!
