I can say that as my two tots absolutely loved these. Oh yes, hubby and I had a fair share of these cookies, too. So flavorful and quite light, you simply can’t have just one.

It’s pillowy-soft and gets its taste and moisture from the applesauce! It’s also egg-free so perfect for those who have egg allergies!

They are uncomplicated to assemble too so even your kids can help you make these.

These are better baked in small sizes as the photos show because it’s egg-free so large-size cookies may crumble a bit. Make it a baking weekend and make these with your family. Enjoy!

  • 1 1/2 cup Flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon Baking Powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Baking Soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground Cinnamon
  • 3/4 cup Sugar
  • 1 stick (1/2 cup) Butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened Applesauce
  • 1/2 cup Chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup chopped Pecans or Walnuts (optional)

Procedure

In a mixing bowl, cream the sugar and butter until well mixed. Beat in the applesauce.

Stir in the flour mixture until everything is well-blended. Fold in the chocolate chips and the nuts (if using).

The mixture may be a little wet. Refrigerate for 1-2 hours so it’s easier to manage.

Preheat the oven to 375F. Grease a baking sheet or line with parchment paper.

Drop the refrigerated cookie dough by rounded teaspoonfuls (or 1/2 tablespoons) onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart. These are just mini-bite-size cookies.

Bake the cookies for about 8-10 minutes or until golden brown. Transfer to a wire rack to cool completely. Enjoy each sumptuous bite! 🙂
