Why Sriracha Mayo Works So Well

The magic of this burger lies in the flavor balance. Sriracha brings chili heat and a hint of garlic, while mayonnaise adds creaminess that cools your palate. Together, they make an irresistible contrast — spicy yet smooth. Combined with savory beef and melty cheese, every bite offers layers of flavor and texture.

This combination has become a modern burger classic, showing up everywhere from gourmet restaurants to backyard BBQs. Plus, it’s one of the easiest gourmet burgers you can make at home.

Ingredients You’ll Need for Sriracha Mayo Burgers

For the Beef Patties:

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • ¼ cup breadcrumbs
  • 3–5 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 egg
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon pepper
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon milk

For the Toppings:

  • 4 burger buns
  • 4 lettuce leaves
  • 2–3 tomatoes, sliced
  • ¼ cup jalapeño slices (optional, if you want to kick up the spice level even more!)
  • 4 slices of pepper jack cheese or cheese of choice

For the Sriracha Mayo Sauce:

  • ¼ cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons sriracha

How to Make Sriracha Mayo Burgers

Step 1: Prepare the Patties

Start by heating a skillet or grill pan over medium heat. In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, minced garlic, egg, salt, pepper, onion powder, and milk. Mix just until everything is combined — overmixing can make patties tough. Form the mixture into a large ball and divide it evenly into 4 portions. Shape each into round patties, about 4 inches in diameter.

Step 2: Cook the Burgers

Place the patties on the hot skillet and cook for about 5 minutes per side, or until browned and cooked through. To avoid crowding the pan, cook two at a time if necessary. During the last minute of cooking, top each patty with a slice of pepper jack cheese so it melts beautifully.

Step 3: Toast the Buns

While your patties cook, lightly toast the burger buns for 3–5 minutes in a toaster, oven, or on the stove. This step adds texture and helps prevent sogginess when you assemble the burgers.

Step 4: Make the Sriracha Mayo

In a small bowl, whisk together ¼ cup mayonnaise and 2 tablespoons sriracha. Adjust the heat level to your liking by adding more or less sriracha. This sauce is the flavor powerhouse of the burger — creamy, tangy, and spicy all at once.

Step 5: Assemble the Burgers

To assemble your burgers, spread a generous layer of sriracha mayo on the bottom bun. Add a lettuce leaf, then the cheesy beef patty, and finally tomato and jalapeño slices. Finish with an extra drizzle of sriracha mayo on the top bun.

Serve immediately — these burgers pair perfectly with crispy French friessweet potato wedges, or even a refreshing coleslaw on the side.

Tips for the Best Sriracha Mayo Burgers

  • Use 80/20 ground beef for juicy patties that don’t dry out.
  • Mix gently when forming patties — overworking the meat tightens the texture.
  • Adjust spice levels by increasing or reducing sriracha in both the sauce and on top of the burger.
  • Add a smoky twist by grilling the patties instead of using a skillet.
  • Make it your own: Try swapping pepper jack for cheddar, adding caramelized onions, or using brioche buns for an indulgent touch.

Serving and Storage Ideas

These Sriracha Mayo Burgers are best enjoyed fresh off the pan or grill. But if you want to prep ahead:

  • Store cooked patties in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
  • Reheat in a skillet over low heat to maintain juiciness.
  • Keep the sriracha mayo in a sealed jar for up to 5 days — it’s also incredible on fries, wraps, or sandwiches!

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs): Sriracha Mayo Burger Recipe

Can I use turkey or chicken instead of beef?
Yes! You can substitute ground turkey or chicken for a lighter version. Just add a little extra breadcrumb or an extra egg yolk for moisture.
