Fudgy, luscious, and full of chocolate and caramel deliciousness, these caramel brownies made with a cake mix are the perfect sweet treat. Absolutely scrumptious and so easy to make!

When my parents were over for a holiday in the US a few years ago one of the ladies at our church kindly invited us to have dinner with her family. She is such a great cook so we totally enjoyed the fantastic dinner she prepared for us. I was already so happy with what we had that I didn’t care much if I got some dessert after that. But then she truly saved the best for last and gave us this warm-ish caramel-licious dessert topped with ice cream. I couldn’t say no!

My family enjoyed the dessert so much as well that they asked me to request a copy of the dessert so I can make it again. I definitely overcame any shyness I had and asked for the recipe which she graciously shared with me. Unfortunately, over the next few days and weeks, I misplaced the recipe. Argh. So when I wanted to make it, I didn’t know how.
Thankfully, one day I was browsing the cookbook which our former church produced, and voila I noticed the recipe was there!

You won’t believe how happy I was to find this recipe and I certainly didn’t miss the chance in making this. When I found the photo I took of the finished yummy treat the other day and realized I still haven’t shared this on the blog, I thought well tonight’s the night to write it all up and let everyone enjoy this fantastic and easy dessert!

So here it is! I suggest serving this warm-ish with either some ice cream or pouring cream. But if you think that’s too indulgent, there’s no need as it’s so delicious even on its own!

WHAT ARE THE INGREDIENTS FOR EASY-PEASY CARAMEL BROWNIES (FROM A CAKE MIX)?
- 11 oz bag of Caramels
- 2/3 cup Evaporated Milk, divided
- 15 oz package of Devil’s Food Cake Mix
- 3/4 cup butter, softened
- 1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (or your nut of choice), divided.
- 1 cup chocolate chips
HOW DO YOU MAKE EASY-PEASY CARAMEL BROWNIES (FROM A CAKE MIX)?
Preheat the oven to 350 F. Unwrap the caramels and combine them with 1/3 cup evaporated milk on top of a double boiler; cook, stirring constantly until the caramels are completely melted. This process can also be done in the microwave if that is more convenient. Cook in 30-second intervals, stirring the mixture in between, until well-blended and the caramels have melted. Remove from heat and allow to cool slightly.
Combine the cake mix, remaining 1/3 cup evaporated milk, and butter, mixing with an electric mixer until the dough holds together. Stir in half of the nuts.
Press half the cake mixture into a greased 9×13-inch baking pan. Bake for 7 minutes then remove from the oven. Sprinkle the chocolate chips over the crust. Pour the caramel mixture all over the chocolate chips, spreading it evenly.
Crumble the remaining mixture (it would be sticky) all over the caramel. Return the pan to the oven and bake for another 24-25 minutes or until the brownie is set. Cool completely and slice into small bars about 20-24 pieces.
