Grilled Sausages with Peppers in Sweet Chili Sauce
Just 10 MINUTES to make this quick, easy and delicious stir-fry! Perfect for using those left-over grilled sausages or hot dogs and with zucchinis and sweet peppers added it’s a wholesome dish for everyone!
My husband is British as you probably already know especially if you are a regular follower of this blog. That means, like most, Brits, he loves Sausages.
So when summer comes, you can be sure we’ll be grilling aplenty. Oftentimes, there are left-overs and we love it when that happens! The reason why? This recipe!
Nope, we never throw away cold left-over sausages, brats, hot dogs or what-have-you. Why? Because you can turn them into something so deliciously good and truly enjoyable.
I love sweet chili sauce and I often use it not just as a condiment but to flavor our dishes and they perfectly improve the taste of this left-over dish.
What’s more, this is so easy to make, it’s really just a quick stir-fry and once you’ve done all the prep (which isn’t much anyway) then all it takes is 5 minutes to put them all together.
And, what you have is just a mouth-watering and super-tasty dish that you can’t stop eating, well, at least I can’t. So enjoy and don’t throw away those left-over sausages, brats, or hot dogs anymore!
Note: The amount of the ingredients can be adjusted depending on how many left-over sausages or hot dogs you have.

NOTES ON INGREDIENTS FOR Grilled Sausages with Peppers in Sweet Chili Sauce
- Vegetable Oil – your oil of choice (my preference would either be avocado or peanut oil).
- Garlic cloves – peeled and crushed.
- Onion – sliced.
- Bell Pepper – your choice of color (red, yellow, or a combo should make the dish look vibrant); sliced
- Zucchini – use your summer harvest; sliced.
- Grilled (or fresh) Sausages (or Hot dogs) – use left-over ones so nothing is wasted; sliced diagonally.
- Sweet Chili Sauce – for my heat level I use about 5-6 Tablespoons diluted with about 2-3 tablespoons of water; adjust to taste.
- Salt and pepper, to taste.
NOTE: Adjust the heat/spice level to your liking. Just taste the diluted sweet chili sauce before adding it and then adjust if needed to how spicy you like it to be. I use the bottled Asian sweet chili sauce. Alternatively, you can also you a sweet-sour sauce, that works pretty well, too.
HOW TO MAKE Grilled Sausages with Peppers in Sweet Chili Sauce
Heat up a wok or a large frying pan to medium heat. Swirl in the vegetable oil. Add the garlic and onions and saute for 2-3 minutes. Add the sliced grilled sausages and continue to cook for another 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add the peppers (or zucchini or a combo) and cook just until tender-crisp. Season with a little salt and ground pepper, to taste, if desired. I sometimes don’t add any salt and pepper at all.
Quickly, stir in the sweet chili sauce to coat the sausages and veggies. Cook just until the sauce is heated through. Serve immediately with some freshly cooked rice. Enjoy!
