Ingredients

  • 1 lb white almond bark
  • 1 lb roasted salted peanuts or raw Spanish peanuts
  • 10 oz semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup butterscotch chips
  • 3 Tablespoons peanut butter, (optional)
  • Sprinkles and M&M minis, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Place all of the ingredients into a 3 or 6-quart slow cooker or crock pot. Turn to low heat and let the mixture melt together, untouched for 1 hour. Use a wooden spoon to stir the mixture together, ensuring to go all the way to the bottom of the pan.

Continue cooking and melting the mixture together for 1 more hour, stirring every 15-20 minutes so that the mixture does not burn.

Once the mixture has cooked together, spoon the mixture into 2-3 tablespoon-sized dollops onto a large piece of parchment paper. Let the candies set at room temperature for at least 1 hour or until hardened. Garnish with sprinkles and M&M minis, if desired.

Now, let’s address some common questions you might have about this heavenly treat.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Can I use different nuts in this recipe?

Absolutely! While the recipe calls for raw Spanish peanuts, feel free to experiment with your favorite nuts. Whether it’s almonds, cashews, or a mix, the possibilities are endless.

Is it necessary to stir the mixture every 15-20 minutes?

Stirring is crucial to ensure that the mixture melds together evenly and doesn’t burn. It might seem like a hassle, but the result is a smooth, velvety texture that’s worth the effort.

Can I speed up the setting process in the refrigerator?

While you can use the refrigerator to hasten the setting process, letting the candies set at room temperature allows the flavors to meld perfectly. It’s worth the wait for that ideal, melt-in-your-mouth experience.

Are there any variations to this recipe?

Absolutely! Consider adding a sprinkle of sea salt for a sweet and salty twist, or drizzle melted caramel over the candies before they set for an extra layer of indulgence.

How long can I store Crockpot Candy?

If stored in an airtight container, these candies can last for up to two weeks. However, chances are they’ll be devoured long before then!

Notes

Tips and Tricks
  • Semi-sweet chocolate chips – Any type of chocolate chip will work well in this recipe such as dark chocolate or milk chocolate.
  • Butterscotch chips – Chocolate chips can be used instead for a less potent flavor though I suggest sticking with butterscotch for a little more complex flavor.
  • Peanut butter – This can be omitted completely without any consequence. Biscoff butter could be used in place of peanut butter for a flavor difference.
  • Be sure to stir the mixture every 15-20 minutes as once everything starts melting, it will burn against the sides of the pan if left too long.
  • If at any point the mixture does scorch slightly on the sides of the pan, stir it in, it will not make a difference in flavor. The keyword here is slightly. If the entire sides of the pan are scorched, you can mix everything together and test the flavor but you may have to start over.
  • I recommend about 2 tablespoon dollops for the candy size, however, you can make them as large or as small as you prefer. Could make up to 36 candies.
